For many years, Robin has been Britain's primary practitioner of the pole-lathe turning; having rediscovered it by studying the tools and equipment of George Lailey, England’s “last bowl turner” who died in 1958. Robin went on to learn first how to make the specialized hook tools, then how to use the lathe in making the bowls. His work has launched the revitalization of an ancient skill.
Robin is a multi-faceted green woodworker; visit his website here.
Among his many accomplishments, Robin is a co-founder of Britain's extraordinarily successful Spoonfest (thus Plymouth CRAFT will ever be in his debt as crass imitators of the model).
